• Representing Hewlett-Packard Company in multiple federal civil RICO, fraud and criminal copyright infringement actions arising out of illegal activities in used computer equipment market. Recovered more than $3 million, obtained judgments and permanent injunctions against certain defendants.

• Represented a group of 60 homeowners in a toxic waste contamination action and obtained a substantial settlement in a confidential mediation.


• Represented major telecommunications firm as claimant in arbitration for alleged fraud and breach of contract by competitor in connection with government contract bidding process.


• Representing six California-licensed insurance companies in constitutional challenge to a state statutory scheme that conditioned doing business in California on providing to the Commissioner of Insurance information regarding policies issued by foreign affiliates. Obtained a preliminary injunction and prevailed on summary judgment invalidating the statute. An appeal is pending before the Ninth Circuit.


• Representing a Me-Wuk Indian in administrative proceeding and federal civil action over the right to organize a government for the Buena Vista Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians. Obtained a preliminary injunction barring construction of a proposed $100 million casino project on tribal land pending resolution of the governance dispute. An appeal is pending before the Ninth Circuit.


• Represented Cooper Industries in action alleging copyright infringement and unfair competition. Matter settled favorably prior to trial.


• Represented major grocery chain in civil fraud claim against a vendor regarding allegations that vendor systematically overcharged the grocery chain for a multi-year period. Matter settled before filing of action.


• Representing California Department of Education in actions seeking recovery of funds distributed to community-based organizations under the Adult Education Act.


• Represented ITT Educational Services, Inc. in civil action against the California agency responsible for regulating the company. Prevailed on summary judgment motion.


• Represented The Source, a manufacturer of lawn-care equipment, in federal patent infringement case and related state unfair competition action. Mediated favorable settlement.


• Represented Level One Communications, Inc. in trade secret misappropriation action. Matter settled favorably early in action.


• Represented Cities of Santa Clara and Morgan Hill against California Legislature in challenging 2001 decennial reapportionment.


• Represented and representing investor and gaming machine manufacturer in cases alleging breach of contract by Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians in its attempts to develop Red Hawk Casino.


• Representing charities, disabled individuals, and gaming machine manufacturer in action enjoining California Attorney General from enforcing legislation banning electronic bingo machines.
