• Conducted internal investigation for GTE regarding allegations that company managers made misrepresentations to the California Public Utilities Commission. Conducted investigation with former Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court, Malcolm Lucas, and submitted comprehensive report to the GTE Board of Directors and CPUC.


• Representing former California Senate President Pro Tempore Don Perata in a federal grand jury investigation regarding alleged political corruption.


• Represented Tenet Healthcare and Redding Medical Center in federal criminal investigation and False Claims Act case arising out of allegations of unnecessary cardiac procedures.


• Defended State Farm in action by State of California to invalidate settlement agreement with California Department of Insurance over investigation of claim handling in Northridge earthquake.


• Defended First American Title Company in multiple investigations by United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and state departments of insurance throughout nation.


• Represented Reliant Energy in California Senate’s investigation of the wholesale energy market.


• Represented Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson in challenging suspension from eligibility for federal funding by government agency.


• Represented Union Pacific Railroad in multiple criminal environmental prosecutions.


• Represented Southern California Edison in federal civil enforcement action for damages and penalties arising out of a major forest fire.


• Defended Charles Krug Winery in investigation by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms arising out of alleged labeling violations.


• Defended APL, Ltd. in federal False Claims Act case alleging false billing in provision of transportation and logistics services to U.S. Military in Iraq and Afghanistan.


• Defending Rite Aid Corp. in enforcement action by California Attorney General alleging sale of hair care products containing excessive levels of organic volatile compounds.


• Defended Union Bank of California in state criminal prosecution based upon alleged violation of California's producer's lien laws.


• Defended Rain and Hail Insurance Services, a leading crop insurance underwriter, in connection with parallel civil and criminal investigation into allegations of fraud in connection with crop insurance.


• Represented Nevada County in SEC investigation and enforcement action pertaining to municipal bond issuance disclosure requirements.
